Liability

Owners can be held liable if negligent in properly maintaining their equipment. Your insurance company could even decline covering for damages in case of an accident. We therefore strongly recommend having all service work and annual inspections performed regularly and by a renowned company.

There is no prerequisite to have work performed by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). In fact, there are no specific competency criteria for service companies other than broad guidelines agreed upon within the branch organisations for terrestrial elevators (i.e. elevators in buildings):
  • companies' business processes have been formalised
  • company has a liability insurance
  • mechanics have a national recognised diploma in servicing elevators, or a substantial number of years of experience in the field
  • mechanics carry a national recognised safety passport
  • A select team of our technicians carry off shore certificates (NOGEPA, OPITO and HUET)

There are unfortunately no specific criteria for marine elevator service companies (regardless of the specific differences between marine and terrestrial elevators). We at Mr-Elevator do comply with above guidelines, specifically for marine elevators!

You can rely on that!
